satan is full of pride: Prideful. He wants to be above God

“The 5 I wills” of the satan – #1) “I will ascend into Heaven”

In Philippians 4:8 Apostle Paul provides us with an excellent Word:

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

The devil brought down
I am looking forward to the day when the devil is thrown into the eternal pit and God’s people are no longer plagued with his ruthless, persistent harassment and vile attacks. As I see the evil that he perpetrates against the innocent, I hate him more and more.

Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.
Romans 12:9

First and foremost!
Without question; the first step you should take to stand against evil is to vivaciously pursue an intimate relationship with Yeshua.

However, at some point, you should gain a working knowledge of how the enemy of your soul operates. After all, he is actively pursuing your demise.

Along with telling us to “abhor evil”, in Romans 12:9, Apostle Paul also said this in 2 Corinthians 2:11:

Lest satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. (emphasis mine)

So while we are to think upon what is good, we are also to at least have a working knowledge of how the devil schemes against ourselves, God’s people, God’s plans and His purposes.

A great place to start
There is no better place to begin this process then Isaiah 14:13-14. In this Scripture are, what is known as, the five “I wills” of the satan: Five things that he said he would do.

For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into Heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
Isaiah 14:13-14

Today I would like to address the first “I will”: “I will ascend into heaven”.

The satan and his history
Before the devil became known as the satan, his name was Lucifer. The Bible tells us that Lucifer was in Heaven and that he is a spirit being created by Yeshua along with all other principalities and powers. He was particularly visually stunning but then became prideful (See Is. 14:13-14 above).

When he became prideful God kicked Lucifer and his followers out of Heaven. At that point he lost his name, his position and the eternal life that he had been given.

“Pride comes before a fall…”

The devil is the first of many to rebel against The Most High
The satan is like many of God’s creation. Many want to elevate themselves above God.

This is part of what the devil was saying when he said that he was going to ascend to Heaven.

He was saying that Heaven didn’t belong to its Creator and that he could go there if He wanted to: No one or no-thing would stop him. He will go where he wants to go and do what he wants to do.

He would not be outdone by “God”. As a matter of fact, the devil was even puting God on notice that he was on his way to His house.

In John 8:44, while talking to the religious people, Yeshua said “You are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father you will do”.

The root of the fruit
So from now on, when you see or hear others who are lifting themselves up, claiming for themselves things that are reserved for the Most High, you will be better equipped to deal with the situation. You will know the root of their fruit and you can then address the situation accordingly.

This is just one way that the God of all Creation has equipped you to be the head and not the tail.
