“The 5 I wills” of the satan – #5) I will be like the Most High

For you have said in your heart, I will ascend into Heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the Most High.
Isaiah 14:13-14

The fifth “I will” of the satan
In this fifth part of our five-part series on the “five I wills” of the satan, it seems that we find that all of the devil’s intentions, motivations, desires, and envy are all referenced in one short phrase: “I will be like the Most High”.

The phrase “Most High” (Is. 14:14) is translated from the Hebrew word “Elyon”. In the Bible, the first use of the word Elyon is found in Gen. 14:18 in reference to a person named Melchizedek.

Melchizedek
The following verse, Genesis 14:19, reads “Blessed be Abram of the Most High (Elyon) God, possessor of Heaven and earth:

So, the mysterious “Melchizedek” of Gen. 14:18, makes a clear reference to the Most High; the one who possesses both Heaven and Earth, that is mentioned in Genesis 14:19. According to Melchizedek; “Most High” is an appropriate reference for such a “person” who reigns over every sphere.

We see that same person, Elyon, the Possessor of Heaven and Earth, referenced again in Matthew 28:18. The Hebrew word “Elyon” is not found there but the reference is the same:
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, “All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth“.

Melchizedek is Yeshua
Most Bible-based Bible students identify Melchizedek as Yeshua.

So, back to Isaiah 14:13-14: After saying all of the things that he plans on doing:

The devil caps it all off by saying, in essence, that he will make himself like the Messiah. It is HE who will be the final ruler over every realm of God’s Creation. It is HE who everyone will bow to as he sits high and lofty on his throne.

The satan is set on being “Elyon“
The devil is saying here that not only is he setting his sights on being the (false) messiah who reigns over all: He is also saying that he will not be happy with even that. He is saying that he is equal to God Himself and that he intends to dethrone God so that he himself will be recognized as “Elyon” – most high.

Of course, he will not succeed in these things. he WILL be stopped: But nevertheless, that is what he is striving to accomplish.

After all, there can only be one “Most High”, and the satan wants to be it.

As Yeshua says “I only do what the Father instructs me to do, the satan says that “i” am going to be the one telling EVERYONE what to do.

While Yahweh God is a God of love, the satan is the god of hate. While Yahweh God is the God of life, the satan is the god of death. While Yahweh God is the God who gives life, the satan is the god who is a murderer. While Yahweh God builds up, the satan destroys. While Yahweh God is a giver, the satan is a thief. As Yeshua came to serve, the satan longs to BE served.

Hate the evil and love the good
Amos 5:15 and Romans 12:9 very clearly and succinctly express a principle that is central to all of the Bible: Hate the evil and love the good.

In Genesis 1-3 God told the man to guard the garden and to keep evil out of it. As you know, Adam didn’t do that.

The Book of Revelation reveals that not only is Yeshua Himself going to lead the army that will eternally subdue the king of evil and his minions, but He is even going to throw evil into the eternal pit where he will be mocked and scorned in torment for eternity. I look forward to that day.

The concept of hating and subduing evil is expressed ALL through the Bible. As the devil is the king of evil, it only makes sense that God’s people would love God, while hating the satan. Anything else is nonsensical.
