Daniel had faith to stop the mouths of the lions

Daniel’s Faith

There’s a perspective of the story of Daniel and the lion’s den that is usually not ever mentioned.

In Daniel chapter 6 King Darius had decided to appoint 120 leaders under him and then to appoint 3 higher leaders over the 120 leaders. Daniel was to be one of the three of the highest-ranking leaders who would report only to the King.

Daniel did such a good job with that that the King was considering placing him second in command over everything: Second only to himself.

Jealous leaders
The other leaders were jealous of Daniel and so they tried to find something that Daniel was doing improperly so that they could present his wrongdoings to the King.

Since they were unable to find mistakes in anything that Daniel was doing, they convinced the king to make a decree that no one could worship any other gods. When the decree came into effect Daniel continued to pray to Yahweh three times a day. Of course, the other leaders anticipated this so they were watching him. They told the king about it and reminded the king that he was obligated to enforce his own law even though he really didn’t want to.

Daniel in the lion’s den
The king had Daniel put in the lion’s den. However, Daniel 6:23 says that no hurt was found on Daniel the next morning because Daniel “believed in his God”.

When we think of this story of Daniel and the lions den we sort of have this idea that God is up there watching through the clouds at what is going on and then just sort of decides to intervene. However, as you can see by verse 23, that is absolutely not what happened.

Daniel’s faith to shut the mouths of lions
The Scriptures are very clear that it was Daniel’s FAITH that stopped the mouths of the lions. Of course, ultimately, it was nothing short of the power of God that preserved Daniel’s life. However, it is just as clear that God acted upon Daniel’s faith.

Hebrews 11:33 says that it was by faith that the mouths of the lions were stopped.

Mark 11:23 says that it is faith without doubt that moves mountains, not just faith alone.

Have faith and doubt not
So many times we think that whatever will happen will happen and that we are just travelers traversing through time and whatever will be will be. Or sometimes we just “hope” that something will happen and if a little doubt is thrown in there it really is of no consequence.

However, as you can see by the Scriptures that I provided, that is absolutely not the case. God expects His people to play an integral part in the present and future.

That is why Yeshua said “whatever you bind on earth will be bound in Heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in Heaven.

James 1:5-8 says:
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraids not; and it shall be given him.
But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavers is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
For let not that man think that he shall receive anything of the Lord.
A double-minded man is unstable in all his ways.

In other words, when you ask for something be assured that you will receive it: Nothing missing and nothing broken. Because if you doubt (are double-minded) you will be tossed too and fro like dust in a storm

Faith is an incredibly deep subject with many aspects to consider. Its a frequent subject at God’s Kingdom Realm.

In the face of grave danger, made clear in Daniel 6:24, Daniel prayed the prayer of faith and God responded. He will do the same thing for you also when you have a pure and committed heart towards God as Daniel did.
