God is in control of time and justice. He is right and fair

The hands of time and the wheels of justice

We didn’t watch a whole lot of television when I was growing up but one vivid memory I have is of the soap opera “As the World Turns” that my Mom would watch in the early afternoon.

The name of that program always struck me.  Of course, I didn’t know it then but some people are certain that the Bible says our world is flat and that it doesn’t turn at all.

Still, the idea that “As the World Turns” always brought my imagination to life. It was intriguing to my young mind as I thought that as time marches on, the wheels of cosmic justice keep on turning and there isn’t much that can be done about it.

I didn’t know that as ominous and powerful as these things seem to be, God is much more.

Moreover the law entered, that the offense might abound.
But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
Romans 5:20

Time
“As the World Turns”: I don’t know why the creators named the series that way but, in regards to time, the thought that the world is going to keep turning around, no matter what, was always sort of surreal to me.

Time is a fascinating subject. According to Evangelist Kent Hovind, God created time when He created space and matter. I don’t have a particularly scientific mind but that sounds reasonable to me.

However, it is important to remember that when saying that, He is thinking logically based upon known laws of logic and science of which God is not confined to.

For as the Heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways
higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:9

The Scriptures clearly reveal to us that God is not confined to these universal laws as we know them.

For example, through prayer, in Joshua 10:13 God stopped the sun and moon altogether. Which, by the way, would lend itself to the idea that the earth is flat and that it is the other elements that move, than the earth.

There have also been numerous death and other experiences in which people have been out of their body for seemingly very long periods of time but when they came back to their body, only a very, very short amount of time had elapsed.

Back to the subject. The point is, round earth or flat earth, space, time and matter continuum or not, time as we know it in life as we know it is going to keep marching on until God stops it.

For some of us that may be at any moment. However there is a day coming that time will be stopped for all eternity.

God is in control of it all.

The “scales of justice”.

God's justice is right and fair

“The wheels of justice turn slowly,
but grind exceedingly fine,

unknown

The other idea that intrigued me with the name of that program is the idea that God is in control and what is going to happen will happen. I had no idea that just as Joshua’s prayer stopped the sun, we can step out of time as well. By faith, we can also influence what occurs inside of the space of time.

When I was a police officer “Justice” was a significant theme in my life.

Most people want justice but few look to the Supreme Judge of the Universe for it.

In regards to God’s sovereign “justice,” there are often many very reasonable questions to ask such as “why do bad things happen to good people”, and perhaps the most ominous; “why did that happen to me”.

It is important to remember that all GOOD things come from God and that the satan is the author of evil.

Disease, untimely death and other acts of destruction are from the satan; not God.

Secondly, it is important to remember that God never wanted the world to be the way it is.  The world was created in a form to be inhabited. Later, when the satan was cast to earth he did what he does; destroyed things.

It was then that God created Adam and Eve and placed them into a garden that He had also created on earth. He told them to “keep” (better-translated guard) the garden but we all know that they didn’t.

Instead, they allowed the satan to come in and corrupt things, allowing him to continue to wreak havoc in the world which he continues to do till’ this day.

So it was not God’s plan or desire that the satan would have such a cruel influence over the world.  But man’s choices have given the satan a legal right to exercise a great deal of influence over the world.

However, Praise be to God, because of Jesus / Yeshua we are no longer defenseless against the wiles of the devil. What the man and woman surrendered in the garden Yeshua bought back.

In the Bible, we are given great insight into the justice of God. You can rest assured that the satan’s viciousness, that he appears to wield so freely now, will not go unpunished.

Yeshua even said that it would be better for a millstone to be tied around the neck of someone, and then to be thrown into the depths of the sea, then if they were to hurt one of His.

Yahweh of Hosts is exalted by His justice,
and the holy God is distinguished by righteousness.
 Isaiah 5:16

The hands of time and God’s sovereign justice
“As the World Turns: To my young mind, the idea of these two elements working together in tandem were ominous for many years. I had no idea that by the grace of God, we can influence them both just as Joshua did.

Joshua didn’t just stop the sun and moon (above): He did so in concert with God so that God’s justice could be exacted.

What Joshua did, you can do too
Getting to know God, in a real and personal way, rather than vicariously through another, or just by what we have been told about Him is what leads to a vivacious, victorious life.

After making a serious mistake, Israel’s King David was given the option of choosing the justice of God or man.  He unequivocally chose God because he knew that even if the results were more severe, God would be fair.

I know that I don’t have to tell you that life can be challenging, difficult, even cruel and unfair.  The satan does everything he can to make it that way: It is his nature.

However, when the satan does attack, you have the confidence that his dastardly deeds will not go unpunished.  His days are numbered and he knows it.

Thankfully, Yeshua has made a way for you to be set free from the devil’s grip. You can experience, not just life, but even abundant life.

“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.
John 10:10

Conclusion: The hands of time and the wheels of God’s sovereign justice often work hand in hand. As we align ourselves with the grace of God these two forces begin to work for us, rather than against us.

Just today a young man I know that had a rough start, causing him to make some poor decisions, faced an earthly judge for something he did a couple of years ago and had since repented for. The dye was cast, the case completed; today he was to go in for sentencing.

In an unprecedented move, the judge and DA worked together to find ways to credit him with time served so that he didn’t have to do time for a felony that was dealt with long ago in the Court of Heaven. Now that is justice.

Confession: I will dedicate my time on earth to walking out the destiny that Yahweh God has written for me in the books of Heaven and I surrender myself to the just God of all Heaven and earth.

Prayer: Father God, thank you that your justice is right.  I release myself to You.  Thank you for sending Your Son, Yeshua to help me.  Now that I can understand, I see that you didn’t leave me defenseless against the satan’s evil ways.  Please help me live in the life that Yeshua has given me so that your joy can be my strength.  Amen
