God provides the power to be powerful in Yeshua

It is a dreadful thing that so many churches have taught that Christians are simply to thank God for every evil attack that is launched against them and otherwise stand by passively waiting for their “trial of testing” to end.

Certainly love is the hallmark of every true Believer. However, love takes many forms including protecting life (even your own) and doing your best to survive and even thrive for God’s glory and the sake of your family and / or others.

In some cases,”doing your best to survive” could look like embracing the healing power of God or “overcoming evil with good“.

God will give you power

But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 

John 1:12 

The Greek word translated into “power” in John 1:12 carries with it the meaning of delegated authority, rule.

In a similar verse, Acts 1:8, the word “power” is translated from a different Greek word: This one means “explosive power” like dynamite.

But you shall receive power, after Holy Spirit is come upon you: and you shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

The power to be POWERFUL
So when verses like John 1:12 (above) are combined with verses like Acts 1:8 (above)

and

Verily I say unto you, whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven: and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in Heaven.

Matthew 18:18 

we can see that it is not God’s intention for
His people to be perpetual victims and that He “empowers” us to be overcomers so that He would be glorified.

It never WAS God’s intention for His people to be victims.
Originally it was God’s desire that His people would take dominion over all evil on an earth that had been corrupted by the satan. Unfortunately, we all know that it didn’t go that way and that Adam surrendered his God-given dominion of the earth to the satan.

However, as Yeshua came to reconcile the world back to the Father, part of that reconciliation includes restoring man to the original position and image of God that God designed and desired (Romans 5:18-19), and empowering those He calls so that they can fulfill their calling.

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.

2 Corintians 10:4 

True power is not prideful
While there are relatively few who identify as Christians that profess what is written above, most who do so place it in the context of temporal prosperity so that they can live their “best life now“.

GOD DOES WANT WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU AND HE THIRSTS FOR AN INTIMATE RELATIONSHIP WITH YOU: But He will be glorified.

You have been empowered (John 1:12) to be a Son (or Daughter) of God so that you can activate the POWER of God (Acts 1:8) on earth for HIS glory.

Finally, my Brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of His might. Ephesians 6:10 

Yeshua came to defeat the works of the devil. He did that and then provided a way for you to go forth in the power of God; that is what He wants you to do.
