Daily Encouragement: How does God lead?
God leads in many ways.
When I was fifteen, I led a climb up a glacier-covered, 11,225′ mountain. We all made it to the summit and returned home safely.
In my preparations, as leader, I created an information packet for the climbing party members.
The packet included start times, ending times, where we would be staying, recommended gear, food; everything I could think of that anyone and everyone would need.
In regards to something of that nature that is a good thing to do. However, looking back, I can see that much of my life has been planned out with that same kind of detail.
From a worldly perspective that is a great quality to have: From a Godly perspective, not so much.
Count the cost
The Bible does encourage us to count the cost of something before entering into it: And sometimes, God even gives people long term goals to work toward. All of that is certainly within the parameters of the Bible.
Non-the-less, the written (logos) Word of God also exhorts us to listen, and stay intimately connected to, Yeshua and His Holy Spirit, as we listen for His now (rhema) Word, leading and guiding day by day, hour by hour, and even moment by moment.
Go where He leads
For example, when God told Abraham (Gen. 12) to leave his homeland He told him to “go to a land that I will show you”.
God led Abraham on his journey step by step. He didn’t approach it the way I did when I led that climb.
When Yeshua called the twelve Apostles He said “come and follow me”. Of those we know about, that is exactly what they did; no questions asked (Mt. 4:18ff).
I don’t claim to have mastered it. However, I do know one thing:
Along with the written Word, God usually leads His people with whispers and nudges step by step.
He wants us to place our security in Him rather than anything or anyone else.
Sure He wants us to plan accordingly; to use the sense that He has given us, et cetera, However, when it comes to living life, He wants us to rely solely upon Him alone. This can be a challenging thing to do in America.
Commit to Him now
Today, purpose to consult Yeshua and rely upon Him for EVERYTHING in life.
For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.
Romans 12:3
There is a day coming in which you won’t have any other option so develop a solid, loving relationship with Him and practice using those faith muscles that He has already given you.
Blessings in Yeshua,
Parson Rayphe
