How to walk in the ancient ways with the Ancient of Days
Thus says Yahweh, Stand you in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and you shall find rest for your souls….
Jeremiah 6:16
Holy words spoken through the prophet Jeremiah to a needy people.
In this article, I will be referring to the Bible quite a lot. So before we go any farther I should note that I do not like to refer to the first part of the Bible as “Old”. In this context, “old” conveys the idea that it is obsolete, no longer useful. Of course, that is absolutely not the case.
To avoid inferring that the “Old Testament” is of no value I utilize other terms such as Original Covenant, First Covenant or Tanach (the Hebrew word for the O/T).
In regards to what is commonly referred to as the “New Testament”, I often refer to it as the (Re)newed Covenant or Apostolic Writings because it is not “new” as in replacing the old.
The “New” did not replace the “old”; rather it complimented it. Yeshua was prophesied about all through the Tanach beginning in Genesis 3:15. The writers of the second part of the Bible quoted the first part extensively throughout their writings.
How many times do the writers of the New Testament quote the Old Testament? An index in the Jewish New Testament catalogs 695 separate quotations from the books of the Old Testament in the New (Jewish New Testament Publications, Jerusalem, 1989). There are many other passages where the Old Testament is referred to, as in cases where an Old Testament figure is mentioned, but no specific scripture is quoted. Depending on which scholar’s work you examine, the number of quotations and references in the New Testament to the Old may be as high as 4,105 (Roger Nicole, The Expositor’s Bible Commentary, Zondervan, Grand Rapids, 1979, Vol. I, p. 617).
“The Old is in the new concealed,
The new is the old revealed”
Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.
Apostle Paul
1 Corinthians 10:11
In the Bible, we can see the coming Messiah, Abrahams journey, the battles, set-backs, and conquests of King David. We see the victory of Job and the words of the Prophets who spoke Holy words inspired by Spirit of the Living God.
We see the Messiah who has come, the steps He walked, the words He spoke and the promise of His return. We also see Apostles Paul, Peter and all the rest.
The Bible is one single volume, not two (the old and the new).
If we view the Bible this way, we can begin to see that the entire Word of God is a bridge. It is a bridge located outside the restrictions of time and distance: It closes the gap between the natural realm and the spirit realm. The Bible is a gateway to the Heavenlies; a portal to ancient pathways that were established so that you can connect with Heaven.
Yeshua is the answer for the world today
First and foremost the “Original Covenant” points you toward the Messiah, Yeshua. He is first prophesied about in Gen. 3:15. He is then referenced all through the Tanach (O/T).
One very key example of how the Tanach helps to connect you with the Messiah is through the “Feasts” of the Lord” which are explained in Leviticus 23 but referenced all through the Bible.
Even as the Scriptures themselves are a gateway to the Heavenly realm, they reveal portals to Heaven that are waiting to be explored.
It is learning to function within these many portals that allowed the Hebrews access and communion with Yahweh God. It began with Moses writing “the book“
By walking with God these men and women of old knew the Messiah, long before the book of Matthew. They showed us the way to the Ancient of Days.
Those guys did amazing exploits such as stop the rain and call down fire. They even directed the affairs of nations.
All of this was written down as an example for you so that you can walk with Him and do mighty exploits too.
Embracing the Word of God can point you in the direction of the destiny that God has for you.
Activating the Spirit realm.
There is a parallel spirit world that coincides with our earth world. As you learn to tap into that parallel spirit world you will begin to learn to function in it.
……..The kingdom of Heaven is at hand.
Mt. 4:17
Having a trusted mentor who can help you along the way can sometimes propel you years and even decades ahead in this process. Learning how to function in these ways, on your own, is really a tough way to go.
Moses, Elijah, Yeshua, and you
Moses and Elijah both walked in the ancient pathways of God. Yeshua walked in the ancient pathways of God as did Peter, Paul, and the others.
This ancient pathway is available for you too but you will only find it through dedicated commitment to the Most High.
He reveals His mysteries to those He finds faithful and true.
Three basic steps to walking in ancient ways of Moses, Elijah, Yeshua, and Apostle Paul:
- Commit yourself wholly and completely to Yeshua.
- Pray. Pray without ceasing. Pray some more and when you need to leave, stay and pray some more. Seek Yeshua by way of Holy Spirit and express your desire for the Higher way.
- Seek others who are like minded. Those who desire the higher things of the Most High God are few and far between. This is much of the reason God has led us to provide various means to connect for those who would like to.
- Pursue God the Father and Yeshua through Holy Spirit.
- As God begins to reveal things to you step out in faith and keep pressing what you think are the limits. Utilize practical discernment but don’t fear making mistakes.
There is a great conflict coming whereby the enemies of God will rise up in full force. They will be reinforced by all of the power of hell itself.
To live through those days, walking in the ancient ways, with the Ancient of Days will not be an option. It will be the only way to survive.
Conclusion: The Bible is one complete book that was created to show you how to access the higher things of God.
As you pursue the things of God as outlined above (1-5), step out in faith and be willing to be different because you will be.
Confession: I desire the higher things of God. I will pursue God wholly and completely so that I can accomplish all that He has for me.
Prayer: Father God, Yeshua, thank You for making a way for me to unite with You through Your Spirit. Please help me abide in You.
