Jesus Still Heals Today

Does Jesus heal today?  Does he want people to receive inner and physical healing?
It was never God’s desire that His creation would suffer.

Way back in Genesis, after creating man, the Bible tells us that God said it was “very good” (Gen.1:31). Notice He didn’t make man sick, or just “good enough”. From the very beginning, God intended us to be “Very Good”.

As God created man to be “good”, in Exodus 23:25-26, after “the fall”, we see God desiring to take away disease and restore health to His people. Psalm 91:6 says “with long life will I satisfy him.” All through the “Old Testament” we see God’s desire and provision for His people to be healed and healthy.

Jesus heals and restores what Adam lost
In Romans chapter 5 verse 17 we see a very interesting and telling verse. “For if by one man’s offense (Adam’s original sin) death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ (who never sinned).”  Jesus / Yeshua said this very plainly in John 10:10 “ … I am come that they (you) might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

In other words, what Adam failed to do, Jesus / Yeshua accomplished for all: Jesus heals even today. During His earthly ministry, Yeshua manifested His will for all to walk in abundant life by divinely healing the multitudes that He came into contact with.

Jesus is our “Savior”
For modern Christians, the word “Salvation” has been limited to spending eternity in heaven after you die a physical death; Praise God for that reality. But there is much more praise to be given because “Salvation” includes far more than even that.

When God “saved” us He included many things in our Salvation: Healing was one of them. In the “New Testament” the word “Salvation” is almost always translated from the Greek word “Sozo”. The Spirit-Filled Life Bible defines Sozo as “To save, heal, cure, preserve, keep safe and sound, rescue from danger or destruction, deliver. Sozo means to save from physical death by healing and from spiritual death by forgiving sin and its effects.”

Among other things, “Salvation” includes both inner healing and physical healing of every sort, right now!

All of that understanding is included in the Greek word “Sozo”; all of it. Likewise, all of the Bible supports this definition of the word “Sozo” and by extension, the word “Salvation”.  So the Bible tells us that God wants to provide His people with “Sozo” in every area of life. Unfortunately the full meaning of “sozo” is largely lost when the translation of “sozo” is limited to the English word “Salvation”.

Isaiah 53 is a prophetic portion of Scripture that refers to Jesus, Yeshua the Messiah. Isaiah 53:4 says “Surely He has bore our pains, and carried our sicknesses: Yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted. And in the Amplified Bible, verse 5 says that Yeshua “was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.”

Jesus Healed when He Walked the Earth
Quoting Isaiah 61, in Luke 4:18 Yeshua said that the “Spirit of (God) is upon Me because He anointed Me to preach the Gospel (sozo) to the poor. He has sent Me to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to set free those who are oppressed…”. Later on, Acts 10:38 records the fulfillment of the prophecy when we read that Jesus went about healing “all”.

But Yeshua wasn’t the only one that healed the infirmed. He taught and encouraged others to do the same. For example in Matthew 10:1 & 28:20 Jesus called His disciples together and gave them power and authority to cast out evil spirits and heal every kind of disease and illness.  Even today,  Jesus heals through His people.

and Mark 16:16-20 reads;
He that believes and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believs ot shall be damned.  And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;  They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.  So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.  And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

Verse 16 is of utmost importance:  HE THAT BELIEVES.  Yeshua does not abide with doubt.  Here is what Mark says about it in another passage:

For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall SAY TO THIS MOUNTAIN, Be you removed,
and be you cast into the sea; and shall NOT DOUBT in his heart,
but shall believe that those things which he says shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he says.
Therefore I say unto you, What things soever you DESIRE, when you pray,
BELIEVE that you receive them, and you shall have them.
Mark 11:23-24

Finally, right before He left His earthly ministry, in Acts 1:8 Yeshua commissioned all of God’s people to be empowered with the Holy Spirit of the Living God so that through Him, we would accomplish even more than He did. Every Believer has in him or her the exact same Spirit that empowered Yeshua to heal and accomplish the work of the ministry.

It is so very unfortunate that Divine Healing has been limited so drastically in America today. It’s not that way in other places. Brother, sister, as a child of God Jesus wants you to be healthy and He has made provisions for you to be healed and in good health. I encourage you to seek it out. satan and others want to cheat you out of it but don’t let them. It is a gift to you from the King of the universe.

God heals in many ways.  Sometimes it is by faith alone, sometimes it is by faith mixed with other modalities.  However, there is nothing that thrills me more than praying for inner or physical healing and watching Yeshua work in powerful ways, as people are set free from every sort oppression in spirit, soul (mind), or body.
