Daily Encouragement: As a spirit, you direct your soul and your body

Famous baseball star Yogi Berra was an American professional baseball catcher who later took on the roles of manager and coach. He played 19 seasons in Major League Baseball.

Yogi Berra said that “Baseball is 90% mental, and the other half is physical”.  Obviously there is a bit of a math discrepancy there but the point he is making is that baseball is a mental game.  Many other high-level achieving athletes echo this same view.

For a time, I was studying to be a Naturopathic Doctor.  However I kept running into the same types of statements: “50-80% of all illness is emotionally based”.

Since my hearts desire was to help as many people as possible, after continuously seeing similar statements I concluded that if emotional issues are the source of most of people’s problems then I should focus on inner healing rather than natural healing.  There was more to it than that but God was revealing things to me that I needed to know.

However, for today, it is important to note that the above figures all come from secular sources.  Even pagans acknowledge what the Bible has been saying for thousands of years in this area: Life begins on the inside and manifests on the outside.

As a man thinks in his heart, so is he.
Proverbs 23:7

Of course the world is completely unfamiliar with how God created His favorite creation and so they base their theories on science.  While the secular world uses words like mind and emotions, the Biblical terms would be spirit and soul.   You are a spirit, with a soul, housed in a body.

It is YOU, the spirit, that dictates the direction, action, etc. of your soul and body.  It is YOU, the spirit, who decides what you are going to do at any given moment.  Your soul and body follow after the dictates of your spirit.

This is a subject I have covered many times in my devotionals and teachings because it seems that most of us need constant reminding of what reality really is.

God and I want you to live life to your highest potential:  I hope that you do also.  If so, the only way you are going to fulfill your God given destiny is if you embrace the reality that you are not necessarily what you see in a mirror.  Rather, you are a spirit and the only way to God is via the Spirit realm.

God is Spirit, and they that worship Him
must worship in Spirit and in Truth.

These are tumultuous times in America: But even still, what we are experiencing now isn’t even close to what is coming.  So, to really connect with God it is imperative that you train yourself to function in the reality that you are in.  This is one way to a blessed and joyful experience in life.
