Montana goes to court over noncompliant Flathead businesses

Maybe the “Big Sky Country” should change its name to “Big Lie Country”.

Montana Gov. Steve Bullock said that the state health department is pursuing legal action against several businesses in northwestern Montana after they failed to follow a mask mandate and other restrictions meant to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

Bullock said he is asking a judge for temporary restraining orders against about five businesses who he says have egregiously violated the state’s COVID-19 directives. If granted, the order would temporarily shut those establishments down.

Bullock says the action came after his office received several complaints against those businesses, which prompted the state to send an investigative team to Flathead County Tuesday and Wednesday. He says that team visited a variety of businesses from bars to grocery stores.
