God’s Kingdom Realm

This is part 16 of a series based upon the Parable of the Marriage Feast in Matthew 22:1-14. Each part stands alone with the other parts supplementing and adding to the whole.

Just like so many other Scriptures that we have looked at in the past, this Passage is so incredibly rich. It just seems like almost every word is oozing with rich, deep meaning. And so to clarify what is being said, we’ll be looking at various Scriptures, concepts, and precepts that are expressed throughout all of the Bible, but primarily throughout the Renewed Covenant (N/T). I hope that you’ve been able to follow along in our series. If not, I would encourage you to check out the archives.

And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:

Mat 22:11

It is somewhat striking to me that this was published the day after the Superbowl in 2020. As always, the internet is reeling with shrieks of Christian disapproval about the halftime “show”.

Of course it was debauchery, of course it was satanic: But here are a couple of questions I have for everyone complaining about the Superbowl:
1) Why were you wasting your time watching it?
2) When was the last time you did something tangible to try to shape the culture by sharing the Gospel?

I expect that most who call themselves Christian and say they are offended by the halftime show may have difficulty answering those questions.

It seems to me that, in many ways, complaining about the halftime show with little or no tangible fruit to show in your life is kind of like showing up to the wedding feast and not putting on your robe; you are left exposed.

Isa 61:10  I will greatly rejoice in Yahweh, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for He has clothed me with the garments of salvation, He hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

Job 29:12-15 12 Because I delivered the poor that cried, and the fatherless, and him that had none to help him. 13 The blessing of him that was ready to perish came upon me: and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy. 14 I put on righteousness, and it clothed me: my judgment was as a robe and a diadem.

Mat 5:14-16  You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.  Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Rev 5:10  And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

Rom 13:14  But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.  Mat 6:33
