Seek First the Kingdom of God…But look close!

Those who have been around me for any length of time know that my life verse, the verse that God gave me to live by is Matthew 6:33:

Seek you first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33

God put this verse on my heart when I was very young.  I wish I could say that I have been diligent to follow those instructions: But praise Him I am finally beginning to begin to understand some basic precepts regarding embracing the Kingdom of God.  I expect my understanding of it’s meaning to expand in the future but I am excited about the revelation I have received at this point.

Several years ago, during the first “Jesus Movement”,  there was a Bible that was introduced called “The Living Bible”.  I don’t hear much about it these days but it used to be quite popular.  This is the way the Living Bible expresses Mt. 6:33:  “and he will give them to you if you give Him first place in your life and live as he wants you to.”

I have a soft spot in my heart for the Living Bible because it was the first Bible that I had which I actually read.  I used it for several years.  However, as you can see, some of it is paraphrased pretty loosely.  Still, what TLB is relating here in verse 33 is, unfortunately, pretty prevalent mainstream thinking these days.  However, the Kingdom of God is far, far, more than what the Living Bible relates in Mt. 6:33.

Seek you first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness;
and all these things shall be added unto you.

The Kingdom of God is an awesome place
The Kingdom of God is an awesome place.  As this phrase is used in the Renewed Covenant (NT) it is not necessarily “a place” as much as it is a sphere; a realm.

The realm of the Kingdom of God is not isolated to the spirit realm or the natural realm: It includes both (Gen.1:1).  God owns it all and Yeshua has been given complete and ultimate authority and power to operate in it all as King.

The Kingdom of God is a threat to the kingdoms of the earth
Those outside the Kingdom of God see Yeshua, His Kingdom, and all who operate in it as a threat to their “kingdoms” just as they saw Yeshua and His disciples as a threat when He walked the earth 2,000 years ago.

This is even part of the reason we have the KING JAMES Bible.  King James didn’t want to relinquish ANY authority.  He certainly didn’t want to acknowledge that Yeshua has complete authority over HIS kingdom!

The reformers had created their own Bible called the Geneva Bible but King James didn’t like some of the notes in it because they threatened his authority.  So in 1604, he commissioned his own scholars to translate the Bible in a way that satisfied him:  Thus we have the “King James” Bible

The Kingdom of God is within you
Anyway, back to the main point.   I have always enjoyed an outdoors and farming lifestyle and so when I was young I worked on a farm.  One day the farmer I worked for asked me if I had seen his gloves.  He always wore cover-alls while he was working.  Cover-alls have big pockets.  As he was wandering to and fro looking for his gloves I laughed as I saw them hanging out of one of his back pockets.

I think that one of the biggest errors I have seen over the years is people striving to attain some sort of “Kingdom of God” status when they actually already have “Kingdom of God status”.  I have met many people who scurry from conference to conference, place to place, person to person, looking for the latest and greatest book, anointing, healing, word of prophecy, etc.

That has always saddened me because these people are like the guy wandering to and fro looking for something that he actually had with him the whole time.

Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.
Luke 17:21 

How is the Kingdom of God already in you?  It is already with you in the reality that, if you have entered into covenant with Yeshua, His Spirit is already united with your spirit.  You already are JOINT heirs with Him.  That means that Everything Yeshua owns YOU own.   He has already given you the keys of the Kingdom Mt. 16:17-19.

Did you get that?  Not only do you have access to the Kingdom of God but you have been given the very keys to it!

Boldly proclaim that the Kingdom of God is here!
So take your place and proclaim as the colonists did in the war for American independence: “I’ll have no King but King Jesus”.

People of God it is time to stand and take your place as a daughter or son of the Kingdom of God!  Seek out the place that He has waiting for you to fill!  You have a destiny, that has been appointed to you in the spirit realm, waiting for you to step into in the natural realm,  so that the Kingdom of God can be supernaturally proclaimed throughout the earth.

The King of the Kingdom is waiting for you to fulfill what He has for you:  It’s never too late.
