Fellowship with Jesus or Yeshua is to fellowship with the whole body of Christ / Messiah

Fellowship with the WHOLE body…

In the last few days, I’ve been discussing Song of Solomon 1:2. We talked about the phrase “let him”. You wouldn’t think that just a couple of words could have such meaning, but they do. We have also talked about the word “kiss”.

Song of Solomon: kiss me with kisses
Today we’re going to discuss this phrase “kiss me with the kisses”. That is the way the King James version reads.

Let him kiss me with the kisses of his mouth: for thy love is better than wine.

Song of Solomon 1:2  KJV

We are just now beginning an exciting journey through the Song of Solomon. We are going to go through it verse by verse. In our study, along with the King James Version, we will also be referencing The Passion Translation.

Let him smother me with kisses—his Spirit-kiss divine. So kind are your caresses, I drink them in like the sweetest wine!

Song of Solomon 1:2

Today we’ll look specifically at this phrase “let him smother me with kisses”.

It’s about a love relationship between the Groom and His bride
Remember, the perspective of our journey is embracing that love relationship between the bride, who is the body of Messiah, and the Groom; who is, of course, the Messiah Yeshua.

In regards to that pursuit, Hebrews 12:14 reads “Follow peace with All Men and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord”.

As you can see, the first word in Hebrews 12:14 is “follow”. This word would probably better translated “pursue”: So let’s read it that way.

Pursue peace with all men
“Pursue peace with all men and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord”. .

By the way, “men” in this verse is a filler word and it may not be the best word to fill in there either so let’s see how it is if we make these adjustments.

“Pursue peace with all holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord”. . .

Again, SOS 1:2 says “let him smother me with kisses, His spirit kiss”. Of course, this is specifically relating to Yeshua. But we just read in Hebrews to pursue peace with all holiness which means, among other things, to unite with the Body of Messiah to the best of your ability.

So we see that there’s no way to be unified with Yeshua unless you’re pursuing a relationship with His body as well.

Walk in the light
So in that light, let’s take a look at 1 John 1:1-7

That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
(For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

When we consider the totality of what we have reviewed today we see that it is the exact same idea that we have in John 17 where Yeshua gives what is known as the apostolic prayer.

In that prayer, He prays that we would be one with Him as He is one with the Father. And so as you are one with Yeshua, you are in like manner, one with the Father….. It’s an amazing reality.

The body of Messiah: A common thread ALL through the Bible
All through the renewed covenant, the scriptures are very clear that we are a body. However, oftentimes we want to exclude the body and try to have a direct passageway, a direct route to the Head. We somehow think that a toenail can connect directly to the chin. It sounds silly, doesn’t it? Yet that very much what many attempt to do.

This is much of the reason we are working so hard to create venues, for those who are truly committed to God, in order to communicate with each other.

All of these things work synergistically to provide that fellowship for those who are seeking the higher things of the Kingdom of God but are unable to find it locally: And today in America, there are many valid reasons for this.

Back to 1 John 1:7: “if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another”. “Fellowship”… “smothering with kisses…”; are you seeing the consistency?

A very clear and consistent theme of unity with Yeshua the Messiah and His bride is all through the Bible.
There is a very clear, common thread between smothering us with kisses and being in relationship with Yeshua and His body.

In 1 Corinthians 10:16-17 this idea of union and fellowship is driven home even more.

The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.

1 Corinthians 10:16-17

It is noteworthy that the Greek word translated into communion here is the exact same Grek word that is translated into the English word fellowship back in 1 John 1 that we were just talking about.

Listen to this. “For we being many are one bread, one body, for we are all partakers of that one Bread. Wow!

This is what the Kingdom of God is all about. Matthew 6:33 says to seek first the Kingdom of God. Yeshua, our High Priest, is the Head of the Kingdom of God.

He is the King in the Kingdom of God. He is the High Priests in the order of Melchizedek. He has awarded you the right, the privilege, the honor, and with those things, the responsibility of being kings and priests under Him.

It’s all happening in the kingdom of God, which is what Yeshua came to preach and proclaim; Luke 4:43.

What a blessing it is to be invited to partake in such a divine appointment.

Blessings in Yeshua
