Praise God for His Amazing Grace! "The Church"If you haven't…
An “obligation to “the great commission”
Sharing the Gospel is known as the “Great Commission”. I’ve said many, many times that there is no greater privilege than to be born an American Christian. However, with privilege comes responsibility. As a chosen one of Yahweh God, you have an obligation to share the Good News of Salvation. That obligation is first and foremost to the Most High God, and secondarily to the lost and hurting of the world.
The ministry of reconciliation
You have been given the ministry of reconciliation. You were called, not only for yourself but also, to reconcile the lost and hurting with the love and healing of the Messiah.
These are serious considerations. Wouldn’t you rather address them now then on judgment day when it is too late? Remember, you are responsible not only for what you do, but also for what you don’t do. The Bible refers to it as the sin of omission.
Is sharing the Gospel a “responsibility” to you?
Honestly, it is very distasteful for me to put “sharing the Gospel” in terms of a “responsibility”. Yes, it is a responsibility: But to me, it is sad to put it in those terms. For example, do you feel “responsible” to talk about a new car that you got a good deal on? How about when you are blessed with being able to purchase an expensive item that you need at a massive discount. Do you feel “responsible” to share that with others or do you do so just because you are excited about it?
If you are not sharing the reality that God has chosen to pluck YOU out of the world, to save you from sin, the satan, and yourself, then you may want to ask yourself if your salvation really is a reality to you.
Is your “salvation” a reality to you?
To gauge this you might pause and ask yourself “when was the last time that I initiated a discussion about Yeshua with someone other than maybe a family member or someone that I’ve known for a while”?
If you are like most people your relationship with God is not what it could be. There are many reasons for this. One very significant reason is, to a large degree, American Christians are not taught that an intimate relationship with Yeshua is important and so neither are they taught how to share Him with others.
Previously I have been reviewing the story about the woman at the well in John chapter 4. There are a number of things we can look at in this story to see how Yeshua went about ministering.
Yeshua ministering to the woman at the well
For one thing, He was following the leading of Holy Spirit to take Him to Galilee by way of Samaria. By His Spirit, God led Yeshua to meet that woman at just the right time.
Yeshua was very gentle and caring toward the woman. He was understanding and forgiving. He was not abusive or condemning. He told her that if she knew the gift of God and who it was she was talking to, she would have asked Him for the eternal life that is only available through Him.
He also shared a word of knowledge to confirm the Spirit of God which led her to know that He was a Prophet of the Most High.
He didn’t try to convince her that she was living a morally wrong or unhealthy lifestyle, or that she was living in sin. Rather, it was by the Spirit of God that Yeshua compassionately reached out to her. It was by His love, the fruits of the Spirit, and a word of knowledge that He captivated her attention.
It was by His words, His posture, His care, His tone that He brought healing to this wayward soul.
The woman at the well was plagued with challenges
It’s fairly obvious that she had been plagued with a very challenging life, and that’s what led her to be in the situation and condition that she was in. She knew that she was in a bad way. She knew that she needed help. She was seeking God. It’s obvious by the questions that she asked Him. She knew that the Messiah was coming. She even recognized that Yeshua was a Prophet of Yahweh God.
It is the goodness of God that leads to repentance
Romans 2:4 says that it is the goodness of God that leads to repentance; it is the goodness of God that leads to repentance.
Ecclesiastes chapter 3 tells us that there is a time for the various events and seasons of life. Accordingly, we can see that the goodness of God can take on different faces. The goodness of God can look like war and it can look like peace, it can appear soft or sometimes stern; but whatever the appearance, the motivation is always love.
1 John 3:8 says that Yeshua came to destroy the works of the devil. Yeshua came to war against evil because He loves you.
He loves you. So because He loves you, He went to war against the devil. Yeshua went to war against evil on your behalf.
So when Yeshua humbled Himself to be led by Holy Spirit, to meet that woman on that hot and dry, dusty road at the well, that’s what he was doing. He was going to war for the woman at the well.
In this case, to you what Yeshua said and did looked like love; and it certainly, definitely, and unquestionably was. However, I promise you that what looks like love to you, in John chapter 4, was perceived as deadly, fiery darts to the enemy of that woman’s soul.
In this case, the warfare took the face of love and compassion: But the flip side of that same coin is, to the adversary, what Yeshua did was considered to be an all-out attack.
So again, it is the goodness of God that brings His chosen ones to repentance. As a result of the goodness extended by Yeshua, and the warm and seeking heart of the woman, most of the people in her village were converted as well.
The Woman at the well shared her joy
John 4:39 says that many of the Samaritans of the city believed on Yeshua for what the woman had said.
The love of God, the compassion of God, the warring of God: This is one way that it manifests.
Likewise, this is what happens when you step out and be the expression of the Most High God. It’s a beautiful thing really. Yeshua wants to partner with you to advance the Kingdom of God. God has chosen you to be His instrument of reconciliation in this day and time.
Such a time as this…
It’s a phenomenal reality that God could have placed you on earth at any given time in history or in the future: But he chose now, in the midst of the birthing of great shaking. It is in this day and time that you have been chosen and placed here to represent Him.
So today I want to encourage you to develop your relationship with the Most High God to the degree that talking about it is what you WANT to do rather than something you just feel OBLIGATED to do.
Be that expression of the Most High God, that He wants you to be, in His love and grace. As you do that, at the same time you will be waging a violent war against evil.
