The regathering of Israel & the Centurion of Acts 10

This is part 14 of a series based upon the Parable of the Marriage Feast in Matthew 22:1-14. Each part stands alone with the other parts supplementing and adding to the whole.

Just like so many other Scriptures that we have looked at in the past, this Passage is so incredibly rich. It just seems like almost every word is oozing with rich, deep meaning. And so to clarify what is being said, we’ll be looking at various Scriptures, concepts, and precepts that are expressed throughout all of the Bible, but primarily throughout the renewed covenant (N/T).

The Dispersion of Israel & Acts 10

If you are were born in America you have a tremendous heritage for which you did absolutely nothing.

Likewise, if you were born again into the Kingdom of God, again you have a tremendous heritage that is being offered to you. With that heritage comes a future also. God is offering you His Kingdom regardless of whether or not you are one of the “bad” or the “good”.

So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. 

Mat 22:10 

For many are called, but few are chosen. 

Mat 22:14 

God’s chosen people is Israel: But as we all know, Israel committed adultery against God and as a result, God gave them their desire. He freed them from their commitment to Him and then scattered them around the world.

It is critical to remember that Biblical Israel is different than the body politic currently residing in the Middle East. The body politic of political Israel is just that; political. It is not Biblical.

Biblical Israel is God’s chosen people. They committed adultery against Yahweh God and because of that, they were dispersed even throughout the world.

Israel Dispersed

Israel is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein is no pleasure. 

Hos 8:8 

However, even though Israel was dispersed, the following Scripture, and many more, clearly express that God would not leave them there. These prophecies tell us that there would be a regathering of Israel.

Isa 43:5  Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west; 
Isa 43:6  I will say to the north, Give up; and to the south, Keep not back: bring my sons from far, and my daughters from the ends of the earth; 
Isa 43:7  Even every one that is called by my name: for I have created him for my glory, I have formed him; yea, I have made him. 

God is regathering His people: Israel.

Even Yeshua said that He came for the lost sheep of the House of Israel

But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 

Matthew 15:24 

Peter’s Vision

In the many years that I have been teaching the Bible, If I had to name one portion of Scripture, that perhaps is the most perplexing, it very well could be the portion of Acts 10 that addreses Peter’s vision: The Sripture that we are going to look at today.

Why is this Scripture so perplexing? It is not because of the Scripture itself. Actually, it is pretty clearly understood. Rather the reason this portion of Scripture is so perplexing is that so few seem to be able to understand it. It really is amazing. I would even go so far as to say that it is miraculous (not in a good way).

It is so clear yet few seem to be able to receive what it has to say. I have no other explanation for it other than it must be one of the manifestations of 2 Cor. 4:4

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

In light of this, it may very well be a good idea for you to pray that the eyes your understanding would be inlighted and that every spirit of confusion must release its grip on you.

In Acts 10 we have another example of God keeping His promise to regather His people.

This really is not complicated. In fact it is quite simple. As I mentioned, it really is beyond me why people can’t seem to see it.

For centuries people have been taught that Peter’s vision in Acts chapter 10 was about food; but it very clearly was not.

Yes it is true that in Acts 10:13 a voice told Peter to “Rise, kill, and eat”.

However, in verse 17 we read that “Peter doubted in himmself what this vision which he had seen should mean”.

It was at exactly THAT moment that the men from non-Jewish Cornelius’s house arrived. See parts 12 & 13 for more about that.

All one needs to do to understand Peter’s vision is read Acts 10 beginning at verse 34. It begins like this; Then Peter opened his mouth and said, of truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 35 But in every nation he that hears Him, and works righteousness , is accepted with Him. For even more clarification all you have to do is keep reading to verse 48.. It simply reaffirms and explains what we just read.

If that weren’t enough, we have the same thing repeated in the following chapter, chapter 11.

When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance unto life. 

Acts 11:18 

Again, for even more clarification I encourage you to read the entire chapter.

Again, you will find that if you consider these things, you will conclude that Acts chapter 10 & 11, Peter’s vision, has absolutely NOTHING to do with food.

While it remains baffling to me how people can’t see this, I do have a little bit of understanding in that we in the West are steeped in the Greek mindset. That means that information is perceived through the lenses of logic, literal interpretation, science, etc.

Of course, I have no problems with those things but they must be kept in perspective when it comes to Biblical interpretation. One must accept that the Bible is a Hebrew book written from a Hebraic perspective. So if one is to understand the Bible, one must do so from a Hebraic perspective; there is no other way: And that also applies to the (Re)NEW(ed) Covenant which was copied into Greek.

I hope you can see now that Peter’s vision had absolutely NOTHING to do with food. If you can’t, as I mentioned above, I encourage you to pray. After doing that, reading this article, watching the video, and most importantly, reading your Bible, it will become abundantly clear to you.

Even Apostle Paul, the “Jew of Jews” acknowledged that they wer to reach out to non-Jews.

That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:

Yahweh- The God of Israel

Blessed be the Lord God of Israel; for he hath visited and redeemed his people,  Luk 1:68 

And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God. Galatians 6:16
