The new normal? Transgender former prostitute running for city council in New York City

According to the Post, Crespo was originally a male and changed teams at the age of 15. Crespo holds a political science degree from John Jay College. Crespo interned with Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie (D-Bronx) and currently serves as an education aide to Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.

She claims that her rivals are trying to “weaponize transphobia” by bringing up her previous arrest.

“It’s shameful. People are upset at the momentum my campaign is getting,” Crespo claimed according to the Post. “Sex work is work.”

Um, ok…but it’s also illegal in most places.

There are currently seven people seeking the 15^th district seat, according to the New York City Campaign Finance Board. Crespo is also a socialist, being a member of the Democratic Socialist of America’s Bronx chapter. Crespo has advocated for the decriminalization of prostitution, the Posts reported.
