True worship for seekers & the hurting
Leaving the woman at the well… back in Samaria
As we leave the woman at the well, for me, there is a bit of a sense of loss. I think that for most of us, it is easy to see ourselves at the well of life longing to speak with the Messiah.
Like her, we know we have made some horrendous mistakes or perhaps we too have been a victim. Perhaps we are sincerely seeking God to the best of our ability, eager to not just find Him, but to really connect with Him: To have Him talk with us and answer our questions.
Visiting with Yeshua and the woman at the well.
The rich content of John chapter 4 stirs within us a memorable experience; even if only vicariously. Meeting the woman at the well and eavesdropping on the conversation that she had with Yeshua is such a blessing.
John 4:19-24: “Sir, I perceive you’re a prophet. Our fathers worshipped in this mountain but you say that Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship?” Yeshua then said to the woman; “believe me, the hour comes when you shall neither in this mountain nor yet at Jerusalem worship the Father.
You worship you know not what. We know what we worship; for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour comes and now is when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth for the Father seeks such to worship him. God is a Spirit, and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth.
“the satan roams around as a lion”
We have all heard the daunting warning and admonition: “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:” 1 Peter 5:8.
I grow very weary of hearing that. Yes, the satan is powerful, and yes he needs to be dealt with. I do that in a number of ways including deliverance ministry, inner healing, and other various ways.
God is incomparably stronger and more powerful than the satan
However, God is MUCH, MUCH MORE POWERFUL AND HE ALONE IS WORTHY. I couldn’t even begin to tell you how many times I have heard the “satan roams the earth as a lion seeking whom he can devour” mantra as if to sound the alarm of nearly certain doom.
Yet not one time have I heard anyone else quote 2 Chronicles 16:9 in this context:
“The eyes of Yahweh run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong in behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward Him.”
The Glorious One is reaching out to you
On that hot, dry, day on that dusty road, a woman alone met the quintessential personification of righteousness in the form of love, compassion, strength, power, and authority. Accordingly, even in His weakened state, He showed Himself strong to her.
He will do the same for you as well if you seek Him as did the woman at the well.
Blessings in Yeshua,
Parson Rayphe
